Did you check out part 1 of the Planning a Trip series yet? There is a free download that will help you brainstorm where you want to go and what you want to do on your trip – perfect for the beginning stages of trip planning!
If you’ve already checked out and completed part 1 of the planning a trip series, you’ll have a good list of brainstormed destinations and activities you may want to do.
Now, we need to organize all of this brainstorming and figure out exactly what you want to be doing during this trip!
I’ve created another free printable to make all of this planning super easy and organized for you – it’s available in my exclusive free download library (along with a ton of other cool stuff, like the free printable from part one of this series)!
Already have the password to the free download library? Awesome! Click over to download the Activities Planner Free Printable so you can follow along with this blog post and plan your vacation stress-free!
Be sure to have your brainstorming list handy as we will be referring back to this when filling in the new printable.
Ok, now let’s get in to trip planning part 2!
First, you’ll need to take another look at your brainstorming list – did you star the activities that you definitely want to do? If not, go ahead and do that now!
Trip Planning – Destinations
Now you can see which destinations/cities are a must-see depending on your starred activities. Write the names of these destinations in the top areas of your new planning printable.
Trip Planning – Activities
Next, write down your starred activities under each appropriate sites-to-see area! That was easy – good thing we did all of that trip brainstorming ahead of time 😉
Do you need to add more activities for certain destinations? To Pinterest you go!
Trip Planning – Amount of Time Spent in Each Place
Now is the part that takes a little bit of research – determining how much time you will spend at each location. I would print out a couple of maps of your area of destination to help with this portion.
On your maps, draw in dots on the cities/places you plan to travel to. Then if you have room you can write the amount of time it takes to travel from city to city or the distance, whichever is most helpful for you.
Look back at your printable and the activities you will do at each location. Write down about how long the activities will take for each destination.
Now go back to your handy map! Will you be staying the night in each of these destinations or will some of them just be a day trip? If so, write down day trip underneath those destinations and the city you will be staying in.
Now for each destination you will be staying the night in, add up the amount of time all of your activities will take + the amount of travel time needed to get to and from that destination. Allow for sleeping and eating time too, of course! 😉 Write this down under the “dates” area – I just wrote in the # of nights I would be staying in that location as I hadn’t determined the order of travel yet.
Trip Planning – Food
Woah, man – you have planned so much of your trip already! Woohoo! It always gets me excited for my trip to look up some local places to eat at, and I’ve included a section for you to write down these restaurants/ideas for each travel destination!
I like to look on Yelp or Instagram under the location tag to get ideas for places to eat.
File this Destination Plan printable away so we can fill in the exact dates and places to stay later on!
Give yourself a pat on the back, we’re almost done planning this trip 🙂
